  • Man dies after Yaletown morning stabbing, Vancouver marks its eighth homicide

Vancouver Police are investigating the city’s eighth homicide of 2022, after a man was stabbed in Yaletown Monday morning.

A bystander called 9-1-1 around 8:30 a.m. to report a man had been stabbed near Smithe and Homer Street. When VPD officers arrived moments later, they discovered a 29-year-old victim suffering grave injuries. The man was taken to hospital, but he died a short time later.

A 34-year-old woman was arrested nearby and is currently in custody.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist investigators is asked to call the Vancouver Police Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.

In a statement, Supt. Duncan Pound of B.C.'s anti-gang squad says its investigations into the shootings in Langley, Surrey and Coquitlam — in which one person was killed and the bystanders were hurt — indicate they appear to be connected to the drug trade.
