A man is dead and a woman is suffering from life-threatening injuries  after a shooting in Chilliwack. 

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken over the case. The man and woman are known to each other. 

The RCMP reported to a home in a townhouse complex in the 45000-block of Watson Road around 8:30 Thursday morning after receiving report of shots fired.

The shooting took place across the street from Watson Elementary School. The school was also put on hold and secure for some time.
