Man charged in connection with series of residential break-ins

Darpan News Desk Surrey RCMP, 21 Sep, 2020 10:58 PM
  • Man charged in connection with series of residential break-ins

An investigation by the Surrey RCMP Property Crime Target Team (PCTT) has resulted in an arrest and charges against a man in relation to a series of break-ins within the past month which occurred in Surrey and Langley.

This investigation began in response to a noted rise in residential break and enters that occurred in the areas of Guildford and Fleetwood, taking place around the end of July and into September.

Many of the break and enters were noted to have similar earmarks, such as suspect vehicle descriptions, and methods used by the suspect, or suspects.

The Surrey RCMP Property Crime Target Team took conduct and focused on identifying who, if any prolific property crime offenders, were operating in the area of the noted increase.

As a result, a suspect was identified and the investigation culminated in a search warrant at a residence in the 16700-block of 85A Avenue in Surrey on September 12, 2020, which led to the seizure of numerous stolen items.

As a result of the investigation, 40-year-old, David Sinh Liu of Surrey, is facing ten charges related to seven separate incidents of residential breaking and entering.

This investigation is still ongoing. "When investigating increases in property crime it is not uncommon for our team to see a significant number of incidents attributed to a single person or small network of individuals, says Sergeant Robert Dalphond, of the Surrey RCMP Property Crime Target Team. That’s why coordinated work between investigators and criminal analysts is an essential part of our strategy to tackle property crime."
