Mounties in Richmond say a man has been charged after an alleged five-day break and enter spree in the city a year ago.
They say that between November 8th and 12th, 2023, officers were called to nine break-and-enters in apartment buildings in the city centre.
Police say the department's Property Crime Unit investigated the string of break-ins and were able to identify the suspect.
They say he has now been charged with nine counts of break and enter and one count of mischief.
The two-month tax break covers dozens of items, including children's clothes and toys, video games and consoles, Christmas trees, restaurant and catered meals, wine, beer, candy and snacks. It would take effect on Dec. 14 and run until Feb. 15, 2025.
The Finance Department says the federal deficit was $13 billion between April and September. That compares to an $8.2 billion deficit over the same period last year.
The Canadian economy shrank on a per-person basis for a sixth consecutive quarter as higher interest rates continued to weigh on business investment. The CEO of BC Ferries is warning the company may need to increase fares by 30 per cent or more in 2028, when the current fare structure expires. Nicolas Jimenez says in a written statement the corporation had forecast last year that such a price rise would be needed to keep up with operating and capital costs, but costs since then have spiked, including a 40 per cent jump in shipbuilding expenses.
