Man Arrested, Stolen Bike Seized By Kamloops RCMP During Traffic Stop

04 Mar, 2020 09:01 PM

Kamloops RCMP officers arrest a man and seize a stolen bike during traffic stop.

On March 1st, 2020, at 2 a.m. police officers on patrol saw a car leaving a commercial parking lot at a high rate of speed and without its headlights on.

A traffic stop was initiated and when the officers approached the vehicle, they noted what appeared to be a brand new bike on a rack attached to the car. The bike had a sticker on it from a store located where the vehicle was seen speeding away from.

The police officers requested another officer attend the store. Once there, it was found that the business had just been broken into, the owners were not even aware yet.

The driver was then arrested and the bike returned to the store owners.

Luckily our frontline officers make regular patrols of commercial and residential areas in Kamloops, stated Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. This was a quick and successful outcome to a break and enter.

All the findings from the investigation will be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for review and consideration of charge approval.
