  • Man arrested 'for mischief' after making comments on Air Canada plane

TORONTO - A 22-year-old man has been arrested after making concerning comments on board an Air Canada plane at Toronto's Pearson International Airport.

The airline says the flight's 161 passengers were boarding the plane ahead of its scheduled 8:55 a.m. departure for London when one passenger "became concerned" by the comments of another passenger and alerted the crew.

Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick says the airline's security and police were called.

Peel region police say a man was "arrested for mischief" but no charges have been laid yet.

Acting Sgt. Thomas Ruttan says the man's baggage was also removed from the plane after the incident.

Ruttan says another man voluntarily left the plane because he was nervous about what was happening, but later returned to the aircraft before it was cleared for takeoff.

Police say the incident did not affect other operations at the airport.
