Man arrested after attack on a SkyTrain passenger in Surrey earlier this month

A 29-year-old Burnaby man has been arrested in connection with an attack on a SkyTrain passenger in Surrey earlier this month.
A statement from Transit Police says the suspect was arrested Friday -- but has been released and ordered to return to court on June 14th.
Officers are recommending a charge of assault with a weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Police say a man and his girlfriend were on SkyTrain at about 1 a.m. on April 15th when they say the suspect stabbed and injured the man -- prompting an appeal for information as an investigation was underway.
It comes two months after Health Canada authorized a bivalent booster from Moderna that targeted the Omicron BA.1 subvariant and the original strain. Health Canada says a bivalent booster triggers "a strong immune response" against both of the more recent Omicron subvariants,as well as the original SARS-CoV-2 virus strains.

Darcy Sidoruk was 18 years old in 1982 when he pleaded guilty and was sentenced for the shooting two years earlier of family friend Yvonne Doucette in Dawson Creek. According to police, a witness called 9-1-1 around 9:45 p.m. to report a man had been attacked near Renfrew and Graveley streets. The 37-year-old victim was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. No arrests have been made and a suspect has not been located.
