A man and a woman remain in police custody facing potential charges after they were arrested in possession of a Bait Car early Friday

On June 17, 2016 at 8:18 am, the Kelowna RCMP received information of the activation of a bait car in the Kelowna area.

Several general duty and plain clothes officers began to converge on the stolen Bait Car from all directions while monitoring the suspects live inside the vehicle using audio and video recording devices.

The bait car was first spotted by officers as it travelled westbound on Harvey Avenue at Gordon Drive, said Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey. The vehicle then pulled into the 200 block of Leon Avenue where the suspects got out and began to walk away from the bait car. Officers flooded the area and arrested the suspects without incident, adds O’Donaghey.

A 26-year old Kelowna man and a 23-year-old Kelowna woman of no fixed address remain in police custody. They each face potential charges of theft of a motor vehicle under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. The woman also facing a potential additional charge of drive while prohibited.

Police have since determined that the woman was also wanted on an un-related warrant for her arrest out of West Kelowna.
