Man Accused Of Killing Surrey Hockey Mom Julie Paskall Ordered To Stand Trial

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 30 Jan, 2015 11:21 AM
SURREY, B.C. — A man accused of killing B.C. hockey mom Julie Paskall has been ordered to stand trial.

Fifty-three-year-old Paskall was savagely beaten outside a community arena in Surrey, southeast of Vancouver, a little over a year ago.

She had been at the arena to pick up her 16-year-old son, who was officiating a minor hockey game, and she died in hospital several days later.

Yosef Gopaul was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the killing and a preliminary hearing was held this week.

A judge ordered Gopaul to stand trial at B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster, where his next court date is March 12.

Evidence at this week's preliminary hearing was under a publication ban.
