Linda Seymour named new president and chief executive of HSBC Canada

HSBC Canada says Linda Seymour has been appointed as the bank's president and chief executive, effective Sept. 1.

She will replace Sandra Stuart, who is retiring after five years as president and CEO of the bank in Canada and 40 years with HSBC.

Seymour, who was also named group general manager of HSBC Holdings effective today, joined HSBC in 1988 and has held progressively senior roles in commercial banking, retail and wealth, operations and risk.

She has been executive vice-president and head of commercial banking for Canada since 2012.

Seymour is also a member of the HSBC Group's global commercial banking executive committee and a long-standing member of the Canadian bank's executive committee.

HSBC Bank Canada is a subsidiary of HSBC Holdings, one of the world's largest banks.
