'Life Is A Highway' In Manitoba: Stretch Of Road Honours Tom Cochrane

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 31 Oct, 2016 01:18 PM
WINNIPEG — The Manitoba government has named a stretch of a northern highway in honour of musician Tom Cochrane.

The 322-kilometre section of Highway 391 leads to Cochrane's hometown of Lynn Lake, and will be called Tom Cochrane's Life Is A Highway, after one of the singer's biggest hits.

Cochrane performed the song at a ceremony at the Manitoba legislature and said he was humbled.

Cochrane left Lynn Lake as a child, but said he has frequently gone back in the summer to spend time in the town.

Cochrane said Manitoba has spawned some great names in pop music and he is honoured to be considered among them.
