Legal Representation Still A Question In Winnipeg Law Office Bombing

The Canadian Press, 16 Jul, 2015 12:57 PM
WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg man accused of mailing letter-bombs to his ex-wife and two law firms is moving closer to getting legal representation.

Guido Amsel appeared briefly in court Thursday via video link, and a lawyer acting as a friend of the court said the accused is in the midst of securing a lawyer from another province.

Amsel, who is 49, faces charges that include attempted murder following a series of bombings earlier this month.

One of the explosions seriously injured lawyer Maria Mitousis, who had represented Amsel's ex-wife in divorce proceedings.

Mitousis lost a hand in the explosion and underwent 12 hours of surgery for injuries to her upper body.

Amsel has not entered pleas to his charges and his case will return to court July 31.
