Lawyers In B.C. Court Argue For Access To Secret Documents From Spy Agency

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 17 Sep, 2015 12:29 PM
VANCOUVER — Lawyers for a pair of British Columbia terrorists want access to secret documents from Canada's spy agency, saying they could show whether police entrapped their clients.

The lawyers are asking a judge to order the Canadian Security Intelligence Service to hand over confidential papers outlining any correspondence the agency had with the RCMP's terrorism investigation.

A B.C. Supreme Court jury found John Nuttall and Amanda Korody guilty in June of plotting to detonate pressure-cooker bombs at the provincial legislature in the hours before Canada Day celebrations two years ago.

In court Thursday, a woman from CSIS opened a large black briefcase and handed over two binders to Justice Catherine Bruce.

Bruce will determine whether the information is relevant to the case.

Nuttall and Korody's lawyers argue police entrapped the vulnerable pair into carrying out their bomb plot.
