Launch of The New 9-1-1 Police Dispatcher Recruiting Program

    During an emergency, the voice on the other end of the phone can become a lifeline. As the first of the first responders, 9-1-1 Police Dispatchers serve as the critical link between citizens and the emergency help they require by connecting them to the police.

     

    Acareer as a Police Dispatcher can be a very rewarding and fulfilling. It requires both physical skills and mental acuity. They protect lives, save lives, and impact the lives of police officers and the public.


    Today, BC RCMP is launching the new 9-1-1 Police Dispatcher Recruiting Program. The 9-1-1 Police Dispatch application process has been modernized and streamlined to accelerate the time it takes to go through the process.


    With a new look and feel, the 9-1-1 Police Dispatch application process has been modernized to simplify the process and attract individuals who are highly motivated to assist people in critical, and sometimes dangerous situations.


    No two shifts are the same, says Annu Sidhu, a 9-1-1 Police Dispatcher at BC RCMP Headquarters. You know that you have a very integral role to play in a team environment where you are responsible for the safety of RCMP Members and the Public.


    Annu has the honour of being the face of the recruiting campaign and is delighted.


    The modernized recruiting program showcases the rewarding career of a 9-1-1 Police Dispatcher while telling the public how important this vital role between police and the public, says Lois Karr, Operational Communications Centre Director for BC RCMP.
