  • Late night shooting in Burnaby lands man in hospital

On Monday evening, around 11pm, Burnaby RCMP were called to home on Nithsdale Street near Smith Avenue in Burnaby for reports of shots fired. 

Via statement, the Mounties say, upon arrival they found several people at a home, "including a 47-year-old man who had been shot in the arm and leg. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries."

RCMP is still investigating the circumstances, however there are early indications the shooting was targeted and may have involved several suspects who fled the area.

Investigators are still gathering details from witnesses who were at the home at the time of the shooting.

Based on the initial information it appears that the fires were deliberately started.  Due to the short time frame and close proximity of the fires police believe that they are likely related.

After 3 a.m., the male suspect then reportedly exited the trailer with a weapon and a child. During the engagement with officers, the man was shot and killed. The child was uninjured and a woman was subsequently located with non-life injuries inside the trailer.
