Langley Construction-Site Fire Forces Dozens Of Nearby Condo Residents From Their Homes

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 17 May, 2015 03:00 PM
LANGLEY, B.C. — Dozens of Lower Mainland residents are without a home after a large fire at a construction site jumped to a neighbouring condominium complex.

Firefighters responded to reports early Sunday morning of a fire in Langley's Murrayville neighbourhood (at 221st Street and 49th Avenue).

Flames skipped over from the construction site where the blaze began and ignited a nearby condo building, forcing more than 100 people onto the street.

Langley's Fire Chief Bryant Ross says some of the units were damaged by radiant heat.

Two people were injured in the fire, as well as a police officer who was taken to hospital after inhaling smoke.

The cause of the blaze is unknown.
