22 Jan, 2020 08:48 PM

Langley RCMP General Investigation Section assumed conduct of an investigation into a suspicious residential fire that occurred in the early hours of January 17, 2020.

The Langley RCMP were called to assist the Township of Langley Fire Department for a residential fire in the 23200 block of 88 Avenue around 3:40 am. The residents of the home had been safely evacuated due to the keen observations and early alerts of a passer by.

In consultation with the Fire department, the blaze was determined to be suspicious in nature. Due to surveillance footage that was obtained, investigators were able to determine a suspect description. During neighbourhood inquiries, police witnessed the suspect pass through the area and subsequently arrested a 24 year old man for Arson.

Mark DYBLE, a resident of Langley, was charged with Arson, and released by the Courts on conditions.

The investigation is on-going and it is believed to be an isolated incident. The Langley RCMP is asking that anyone passing through the area of 88 Avenue and McAllister Street between the hours of 3 am and 4 am who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously, to please contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
