Labrador Men Who Braved Flames To Rescue Man From House Fire Are 'Heroes': RCMP

The Canadian Press, 06 Jun, 2016 10:46 AM
HOPEDALE, N.L. — The RCMP says two Labrador men are heroes after they rescued a 65-year-old man from a burning home.

Investigators say the two men noticed smoke coming from the home on Water Street in Hopedale as they were passing by on Saturday afternoon.

The RCMP says Alec Noggasak tried to get into the house, but the door was locked.

Noggasak broke a window, and he and Gregory Flowers entered the home, found the owner in his bedroom and pulled him to safety.

The resident was taken to a local clinic and then transferred to the St. John's Health Sciences Centre for further treatment.

Police say Noggasak and Flowers likely saved the owner's life.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
