  • La Prairie Mayor dies after being stung by wasps
Lucie F. Roussel, mayor of La Prairie, a Montreal-area community, is dead after she got stung multiple times by wasps.
 
Roussel stepped on a wasp nest while gardening at her cottage in Stratford, and was pronounced dead shortly after the attack.
 
The 51-year-old has been mayor since 2005 and passed away in hospital Sunday.
 
She was mother of an 18-year-old daughter and 19-year-old son.
