Kelowna Man Arrested, Facing Charge For Allegedly Beating Elderly Mother

The Canadian Press, 15 Mar, 2016 12:23 PM
KELOWNA, B.C. — A Kelowna, B.C., man is facing a charge of aggravated assault for allegedly beating his elderly mother.

RCMP say a 61-year-old man called 911 around 11 p.m. Thursday to report being assaulted but when officers arrived, they found an 81-year-old woman suffering from significant head trauma, five broken ribs and bruising all over her body.

The man and his mother were taken to hospital, where she remains in intensive care.

Her son was released from care and arrested.

Const. Jesse O'Donaghey says the man has been living with his mother for some time and the alleged abuse has been ongoing.

He says the man has allegedly threatened his mother and taken advantage of her financially. (CKFR)
