Karan Seechurn, Indian-Descent Cruise Ship Worker Jailed For Sexually Abusing A Sleeping Woman

IANS, 06 Aug, 2015 11:16 AM
A Mauritian of Indian descent has been sentenced to 13 months in prison for sexually abusing a woman while she was asleep on a cruise ship, according to New Jersey's federal prosecutor.

Federal Judge Esther Salas imposed the sentence on Wednesday on Karan Seechurn, who was a worker on the ship and had pleaded guilty to the offence, US District Attorney Paul Fishman said.

According to court documents, Seechurn whose job was to stock the minibars in the ship's cabins, entered the woman's cabin while he was off duty using a key he was given as part of his duty.

He admitted that he touched the woman's genitals, the documents said.
