Kamloops Woman Finds Dead Bear In Shower Curtain While Walking Home

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 28 May, 2015 12:27 PM
KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Conservation officers are investigating the case of a dead bear that was apparently shot before being wrapped in a shower curtain and dumped in an alley in Kamloops, B.C.

Stephanie Patsula said she was walking home when she saw something that drew her attention.

“It was clearly a corpse and it was all wrapped up,” she said.

Patsula said she started to unwrap the curtain when two bear paws flopped out.

“It was a bear that looks to have been poached. It was killed and left in the alleyway.”

Patsula said nothing was removed for trophy purposes.

Conservation officer Kevin Van Damme said the unusual find on Monday is under investigation.

Hunters can legally kill black bears at this time of year, but it's an offence to dump a bear without making use of it, he said.

“The question we have is, was this a lawful kill and somehow got put in this location?”

Anyone with information is being asked to call the Environment Ministry.
