Justin Trudeau To Speak To Federation Of Canadian Municipalities Conference

Darpan News Desk, 03 Jun, 2016 11:54 AM
WINNIPEG — Justin Trudeau will speak to Canada's mayors and councillors today.

The prime minister will address the Federation of Canadian Municipalities conference in Winnipeg this morning.

More than 1,500 municipal leaders are in Winnipeg for the conference, which runs until Sunday.

The mayors of Canada's big cities expressed optimism about infrastructure funding following a meeting in Winnipeg on Thursday with a member of Trudeau's cabinet — Infrastructure and Communities Minister Amarjeet Sohi.

Sohi said the federal government wants to be flexible enough to respect the decisions of local governments on how to spend infrastructure dollars.

Later this morning, Trudeau is scheduled to answer questions live on air at the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network and then meet with Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister in the afternoon.
