Justin Trudeau Extols Virtues Of Bombardier Cseries As Government Ponders Aid

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 24 Mar, 2016 11:38 AM
TORONTO — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is extolling the virtues of Bombardier's CSeries plane as the federal government decides whether to offer as much as US$1 billion to the company to help it sell the aircraft.

Trudeau was in Toronto, where he called the CSeries passenger jet "an exceptional airplane" that shows off Canada's innovation and manufacturing skills to the world.

He declined to say whether the government has set a deadline on its decision to give aid to Bombardier, but repeatedly said it would be in the best interest of Canadians.

Some have expressed concerns about the wisdom behind giving public money to Bombardier (TSX:BBD.B), which has had trouble selling the CSeries.

The Quebec government already promised last fall that it will give US$1 billion to support the Montreal company.
