Judge Named For Trial Of Pair Accused Of Plotting To Shoot Halifax Shoppers

The Canadian Press, 25 Feb, 2016 11:26 AM
HALIFAX — A couple accused of plotting a mass shooting at a Halifax mall made a brief court appearance Thursday as lawyers discussed potential trial dates.

Lindsay Souvannarath and Randall Shepherd didn't speak or show emotion as they sat in court during the hearing.

They are facing a joint trial on charges of conspiring to commit murder, conspiring to commit arson and uttering threats.

They have been in custody since allegedly planning a shooting attack on a mall that would have been full of Valentine's Day shoppers last February.

The two defence lawyers and the Crown said they'll meet again next month to check on dates for pre-trial issues and the trial's date and length.

Court heard that Justice James Chipman will hear the judge and jury trial in Nova Scotia Supreme Court.
