Investigators Unable To Determine Cause Of Fire That Killed Four Manitoba Boys

The Canadian Press, 12 Aug, 2015 11:54 AM
WINNIPEG — Investigators say they are unable to determine the cause of a house fire in rural Manitoba that killed four boys who were between nine and 15 years old.

The provincial fire commissioner's office says the Feb. 25 fire in the small community of Kane was accidental, but damage was too extensive to pinpoint a cause.

    The investigation is now closed.

The blaze that erupted in a two-storey farmhouse killed Henry, Bobby, Timmy and Danny Froese.

Their mother, Doralee Eberhardt, was able to escape with three other children, but the boys were in the upper floor and could not get out.

Their father, Jake Froese, and the couple's 18-year-old son, Steven,  were just returning from work and tried to rescue the boys, but the flames and smoke were too much.
