Mounties in Surrey say a year-long investigation has led to one of the largest drug seizures in the detachment's history and will "disrupt" the drug trade in the city.
RCMP say they launched an investigation in June 2023 into a criminal group alleged to be involved in trafficking "high-potency" drugs and illicit firearms in the Lower Mainland.
Police used warrants to search properties in Surrey, Vancouver, New Westminster, Richmond and Coquitlam, and say officers seized large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl and other drugs, along with cash, guns, ammunition and body armour.
Three suspects between the ages of 24 and 47 have been arrested.
RCMP Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha says a report has been sent to the Public Prosecution Services of Canada for recommendation of charges against the three.
Mounties say the amount of drugs seized in this investigation, including 36 kilograms of fentanyl, 23 kilograms of MDMA, and 20 kilograms of cocaine, are significant enough to disrupt the drug trade in Surrey.
