Surrey RCMP is advising the public of an investigation into the discharge of a firearm by a police officer from Langley RCMP, which occurred at a residence in Surrey.
At approximately 2:30 am, on July 3, 2019, Langley RCMP responded to reports of an injured woman at a residence in the 20100-block of 68 Avenue in Langley, the investigation progressed to include a residence in the 19300-block of 72A Avenue, in Surrey.
At the residence in Surrey, Langley RCMP officers were confronted with a distraught man who allegedly produced a weapon. In response, one of the officers discharged a service firearm. No one was injured in the shooting, but the distraught man was transported to hospital after being apprehended under the BC Mental Health Act.
The discharge of a police firearm is now being investigated by the Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit.
The Surrey investigation is currently in the information gathering stages, with no further details available at this time.
Langley RCMP is continuing to investigate the call for service which originated in Langley.
