Correctional Service Canada says an inmate at Mission Institute has died while in custody.
It says 33-year-old Tyler Damien Van Basten had been serving a nearly four-year sentence that began in January.
The agency says he died at the medium security prison on Friday, but did not include details as to how.
The agency says his next of kin has been notified.
The federal government has awarded two contracts totalling more than 103-million dollars for maintenance work on he Alaska Highway in northern B-C. Public Services and Procurement Canada says the contracts cover work on two sections of the highway, from kilometres 133 to 968.
