Correctional Service Canada says an inmate has died after an assault at a B-C prison.
The service says the 43-year-old inmate died Sunday while in the custody of the Kent Institution in Agassiz.
Police and the coroner has been notified of the death.
The victim was serving an indeterminate sentence that began in January 2021.
Seven Vancouver police officers who were present when Myles Gray was beaten to death in August 2015 will face a public hearing into their conduct, B.C.'s police complaint commissioner says. Mounties in Campbell River say a 24-year-old man is facing possible charges after a search warrant turned up a significant amount of illicit drugs last month. They say officers seized more than 900 grams of cocaine, 200 grams of fentanyl, 260 hydromorphone pills and 26-thousand dollars in cash during the search.
