The Correctional Service Canada says an inmate was brought to an outside hospital after being assaulted at a maximum-security prison in Agassiz.
It says in a news release that the attack happened last Friday.
The service says the R-C-M-P and authorities from the Kent Institution are investigating the incident.
It says the assailants have been identified and no other inmates or staff were injured.

The British Columbia government has appointed Dr. Jatinder Baidwan as the province's new chief coroner following the retirement of Lisa Lapointe earlier this year.
