The Correctional Service Canada says an inmate was brought to an outside hospital after being assaulted at a maximum-security prison in Agassiz.
It says in a news release that the attack happened last Friday.
The service says the R-C-M-P and authorities from the Kent Institution are investigating the incident.
It says the assailants have been identified and no other inmates or staff were injured.
The Metro Vancouver regional district says construction will begin this month on a new 1.4-kilometre-long water supply tunnel deep under Stanley Park. A statement from the district says the tunnel will replace a water main that was built in the 1930s with work expected to stretch into 2029.
