  • Improved transit coming to 4 communities in a joint effort by the Province and the Feds

B-C Transit and the federal and provincial governments have combined funding of just over 90-million dollars to improve transit infrastructure to four communities. 

The announcement by federal Infrastructure Minister Sean Fraser, B-C’s Transport Minister Rob Fleming and B-C Transit’s C-E-O Erinn Pinkerton will allow for preliminary work for a proposed new transit centre in Saanich. 

Funding will build also three new transit exchanges in Kelowna and upgrade existing transit centres in Victoria and Langford to incorporate a maintenance training centre. 

The federal and B-C government will each invest 36.5 million for the projects.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death after an unoccupied cargo truck hit and killed a pedestrian in Surrey, B.C. The RCMP said at the time the unoccupied van rolled into traffic, where it hit another vehicle before running into Surrey woman and mother of 2, Paramjit Masutta.
