  • 'I'm A Simple Muslim,' Accused Pakistani Terrorist Tells Deportation Hearing
TORONTO — A Pakistani man accused of plotting terror attacks in Toronto describes himself as a "simple Muslim."

Jahanzeb Malik says he doesn't believe in sects.

Malik, who is a permanent resident, tells his Immigration and Refugee Board hearing that he went to Libya two years ago to teach English as a second language.

Canada Border Services Agency accuses Malik, 34, of plotting to attack the U.S. consulate and financial district buildings in Toronto and wants to deport him.

Much of the case is based on evidence gathered by an undercover officer who befriended the flooring contractor.

The officer, who cannot be identified, has yet to testify.
