  • IIO investigating Surrey crash

On Sunday, shortly after 8 a.m., Surrey RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle and a potential indecent act in the 100 Avenue parking lot of Green Timbers Urban Forest.

Attending Officers located the vehicle with two people inside, but it reportedly fled west bound on 100 Avenue.

Officers followed and the suspect vehicle was involved in a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection 100 Ave and 140 St.

The male driver attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody after officers deployed a conducted energy weapon. He was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Other people involved in the collision reported little to no injuries.

The IIO BC is investigating police actions in the incident.

Surrey RCMP is conducting a concurrent investigation into the initial complaint and subsequent collision.
