IIO BC Investigating After Man Fatally Shot By Police In Maple Ridge

  • IIO BC Investigating After Man Fatally Shot By Police In Maple Ridge

RCMP have notified the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) of an incident which resulted in the death of a man earlier today.


This afternoon, at around 1:10pm, RCMP officers responded to a reported domestic incident in the 12400 block area of Colemore Street in Maple Ridge.


Officers entered the residence and located three individuals, one of which had a knife. During the course of the interaction a conducted energy weapon was deployed but was not successful, and another police officer fired their gun.


Emergency Health Services were on scene and provided immediate medical assistance. The man was pronounced deceased at the home. No one else was injured.


IIO BC is investigating to determine whether police actions or inactions are linked to the man’s death. As the matter is now under investigation by the IIO BC, no further information will be released by police.
