  • IHIT investigating 'suspicious death' of 45-year-old man in Hope

British Columbia's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been deployed after a "suspicious death" in Hope.

It says Mounties responded to a police report of a dead person on Friday and arrived to find the body of a 46-year-old man, who appeared to be the victim of a homicide.

The homicide team says it has taken over the investigation but will be working closely with the Upper Fraser Valley Regional District Serious Crimes Unit, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and the BC Coroners Service.

It says investigators have identified the man as being from Chilliwack, but is not releasing the victim's name so they can notify family members.

IHIT says initial evidence suggests the incident was isolated and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

But, the unit is asking anyone with information to come forward.
