  • I thee wed, again? Woman charged after wedding done without legal authority: OPP

NORWICH, Ont. - A couple may be looking for a wedding do-over.

It's alleged a woman officiating at a marriage ceremony in southwestern Ontario solemnized the sacred vows with no legal authority and under a false name.

Ontario Provincial Police say charges have been filed after an investigation began in August into the "performance of the solemnization of a marriage" in Norwich in June 2013.

They allege the ceremony was presided over by a woman calling herself Dale Brewster, but say that wasn't really her name.

Dale Reade, 61, of London, Ont., faces charges of pretending to solemnize marriage without lawful authority, fraud under $5,000, uttering a forged document and personation with intent.

OPP say Reade, who is to appear in court on Nov. 4, was the past operator of the Crystal Wedding Chapel.
