Surrey RCMP is advising the public of the discovery of human remains.

On Wednesday close to 12:45pm, Police responded to a report of what appeared to be human remains found in a wooded area on an empty lot in the 19000-block of Fraser Highway.

The Mounties have secured the scene and the Integrated Forensic Identification Team have been called to the scene. The BC Coroner Service has been advised.

Police are working to identify the deceased individual.

It is too early in the investigation to determine whether or not criminality is a factor.

Vancouver police say it unfolded Wednesday at a gas station where a pedestrian was hit with a vehicle, then the driver got out of his car and chased several people while holding a knife and machete.
