Human Remains Found In Powell River, B.C., Not Yet Identified: RCMP

    POWELL RIVER, B.C. — Human remains have been found near the Townsite area of Powell River, B.C.
     
    RCMP say the remains have not been identified and a cause of death has not been established.
     
    Mounties notified the B.C. Coroners Service, which is investigating.
     
    RCMP are continuing their probe with the help of the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit.
     
    The unit is deployed when a deceased person's identity and cause of death are not known.
     
    Officers say there are no indications the discovery represents a risk to public safety.
