Huge Fire On Mitchell Island In Richmond

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 20 Jan, 2017 12:36 PM
A large fire is burning on Mitchell Island, between the cities of Vancouver and Richmond with thick black smoke coming from a property, just to the east of the Knight Street Bridge

Crews responded around 11:30 a.m. “We sent two engines, a rescue and a batallion chief,” says Captain Brian MacLeod.

Police and fire crews are on the scene, but it is unclear what caused the fire and what exactly is burning.

Explosions and popping can be heard coming from what appears to be a scrap yard.
