Hot temps for Vancouver this weekend

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 12 May, 2023 10:36 AM
  • Hot temps for Vancouver this weekend

An Environment Canada meteorologist says B-C's upcoming temperature spike shares some of the same characteristics as a so-called heat dome.

But Armel Castellan says the heat spike forecasted for later this week does not have the potential of pushing temperatures in B-C's Interior into the 40s - like the heat dome did in June 2021.

Castellan says the longer and cooler nights in mid-May help to prevent the temperature from meeting 2021 levels.

Alberta and B-C, however, are still facing forecasts of daytime high temperatures soaring 15 degrees above normal starting today.
