  • Hootsuite Cuts Jobs In Shift Of Priorities For The Social Media Management Business

VANCOUVER — HootSuite Inc. says it has reduced its staffing levels as part of a reorganization of its social media management business.

The Vancouver-based company hasn't said how many jobs are affected but CTV reports that more than 100 people were laid off Tuesday.

Since HootSuite was founded in late 2008, it has grown into a leading supplier of technologies that companies and individuals use to manage multiple social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

According to HootSuite's website, it had more than 1,000 employees prior to the reorganization in Vancouver, Toronto and 10 cities around the world.

A brief statement issued by HootSuite says the staff cuts were due to an alignment of its strategic priorities to serve its customers.
