Hong Kong Man, 27 Finds Christmas Cheer In Yukon, Thanks To Social Media Post

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 24 Dec, 2015 05:25 PM
WHITEHORSE — Residents of Yukon are reaching out to a Hong Kong man who doesn't want to spend Christmas alone.

Twenty-seven-year-old Stanley Hansen has been in Canada for nearly 18 months and, most recently, has been working near Whitehorse.

He says he realized he had nowhere to spend Christmas and reached out on social media asking if anyone in Yukon could accept one more at their holiday table.

Since then, Hansen says he has been overwhelmed by support as 17 people contacted him and he already has three invitations to dinner.

He says the Canadian people are the most beautiful thing in this country.

Hansen's visitors visa expires in February and he says he's fulfilled his dream of seeing the northern lights, but a second wish has also come true because he will have Christmas dinner with a Yukon family.
