Homicide team names man in fatal B.C. shooting

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 25 May, 2021 03:56 PM
  • Homicide team names man in fatal B.C. shooting

The homicide investigation team has identified a man killed in a shooting in Coquitlam, B.C.

Police say 42-year-old Aali Hussain is known to them, but they don't know yet if the man's death is related to the ongoing gang conflict.

Coquitlam RCMP say they responded to reports of a shooting and arrived at the scene Saturday to find the man lying next to his vehicle.

Police say a stolen 2002 red Buick Century with at least two people inside left the scene following the shooting and it's believed the suspects were inside.

The same car was found the next day by Langley RCMP and police say it had been reported stolen from a Surrey neighbourhood on the same day as the shooting.

Police have said there's been at least 20 gang-related homicides and 20 attempted murders in Metro Vancouver so far this year.
