Homeless Man Finds $2000 On Vancouver Island Street, Brings It To RCMP

The Canadian Press, 16 Jun, 2015 12:20 PM
  • Homeless Man Finds $2000 On Vancouver Island Street, Brings It To RCMP
LANGFORD, B.C. — Police say a homeless man has turned in more than $2,000 that he found on a street on southern Vancouver Island.

The man, who is in his 60s, recently found the cash in Langford, B.C., and brought it to the RCMP detachment.

Mounties say it's unusual for such a large amount of money to be turned in, but the man's situation makes it even more surprising.

They say he realized the money belonged to someone and handed it over because he felt like it was the right thing to do.

Const. Alex Bérubé says the man will be rewarded for his honesty by getting to keep the money if no one claims it within 90 days.

Anyone doing so will have to provide specific details about the amount, denominations and where the cash was found.
