Hiker Found Dead In Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park Is 20-Year-Old Sukhjeet Saggu From Surrey

    CHILLIWACK, B.C. — The coroners service has identified a man who died in a fall while hiking in southwestern British Columbia.
     
    Twenty-year-old Sukhjeet Saggu was reported missing on Friday after being separated from a hiking group in Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park that is located about 120 kilometres east of Vancouver and 10 km from the U.S. border.
     
    The young man's friends say he had run ahead during a hike (near Lindeman Lake) but that he hadn't shown up by early afternoon on Friday.
     
     
    The Surrey, B.C., man's body was found at the foot of a loose rock incline on Saturday after a search lasting more than 20 hours.
     
    He was confirmed dead shortly after.
     
    The BC Coroners Service has concluded the fall was accidental.
     
     
    Doug Fraser of Chilliwack Search and Rescue says air support spotted Saggu's body in a boulder field far from any trail and that he appears to have died from a fall.
     
    The man's family has been notified.
