Highway 1 Re-opens After Flipped Diesel Truck Causes Big Delay In Burnaby

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 07 Jan, 2015 10:44 AM
BURNABY, B.C. — Part of the Trans-Canada Highway in Metro Vancouver has re-opened after a tanker truck flipped on its side, spilling diesel and closing the major route for hours.

RCMP Const. Mike Moore says the truck lost control just after midnight Tuesday, and rear-ended a car before flipping over on a section of highway in Burnaby.

The road closure in both directions at Kensington and Boundary Road caused significant delays for morning commuters as hazmat crews dealt with the small spill.

Moore says getting the tanker truck upright was the major dilemma, as crews had to drain the vehicle's individual compartments. (CKNW)
