High power demand due to cold snap: BC Hydro

B-C Hydro says the extreme cold temperatures saw the province experience a record-high power demand.

The public utility says in a statement it reached record demand highs on Friday night of eleven thousand three hundred megawatts.

B-C Hydro says the previous record was set in December 2022 at almost eleven hundred megawatts.

Josie Osborne, B-C's energy minister, says B-C Hydro was able to meet the province's needs during the cold snap.

A ship that will house more than 600 workers at a natural gas construction project north of Vancouver arrived in British Columbia waters this week after a 40-day journey from Estonia, where it had been in use by Ukrainian refugees. Search for suspect vehicle on after Surrey shooting
