Hand-drawn map causes new stirrings in decade-old case of missing Regina girl

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 03 Nov, 2014 10:29 AM

REGINA — The appearance of a crude-looking map on a social media site has Regina police investigating a possible new lead in a missing person's case that captured Canadians' attention more than 10 years ago.

The hand-made drawing, which was posted on Reddit by a user called "my secret is out," claims to show where the body of Tamra Keepness is located.

It carries a notation that says "check the wells," although it's not immediately clear where the area in question is located.

Acting police Staff Sgt. Cory Culling says in a statement that investigators are looking into the posting, but don't yet know if the map is credible.

Keepness was last seen in her Regina home on July 5, 2004 and her disappearance sparked a massive search involving hundreds of police and volunteers.

A reward for information leading to her recovery was raised earlier this year to $50,000. (CKRM, CJME)
